Forthcoming Events

Below is a list of forthcoming events to be held at Asti Equestrian. Unless otherwise stated these events are organised by Asti Equestrian and are open to Asti clients and other riders. Everyone is welcome with their own horse or use one of ours. Beginners and experienced riders are catered for in all activities. Events must be paid for when booking. Twice A Month - Friday evenings
SHOW JUMPING TRAINING -5pm for novice riders, 6pm for intermediate riders and 7pm for open riders. Asti Equestrian horses and ponies can be used, or you can bring your own. Numbers are limited so early booking is recommended. All abilities are welcome.

FRIDAY 12TH MAY - JUMP CLINIC. £20
5pm Novice, 6pm Intermediate and 7pm open.

SUNDAY 14TH MAY- PONY CLUB ACHIEVEMENT BADGE. 1.30pm - 2.30pm. £15
Intro to Show Jumping Badge Theory: We will be talking through what we need to do as well as watching a demo.

 Be able to demonstrate at a halt the correct position over a fence.
 Recognise at least two types of jump such as a spread, triple bar, gate, planks, stile and cross pole.
 To explain the meaning of ‘double combination’.
 To jump round 4 fences in either trot and/or canter – max. height 0.65cm (2’1”)1.30pm - 2.30pm £15

SUNDAY 14TH MAY - ADULT TRAINING DAY
10am to 4.00pm.

SATURDAY 20TH MAY- PONY CLUB BRONZE AWARD 3- THEORY. 10.30am - 12 midday. £15
OBJECTIVES
Training for the Bronze Level 3 test on 27th May. To start to learn about riding ponies. 
Begin handling ponies and start to become confident around them. 

RIDING AND ROAD SENSE

Mount by receiving a leg up 
Dismount 
Sit in a safe and reasonably secure position in the saddle. 
Hold the reins correctly. 
Ride from halt to walk and from walk to halt in a straight line. Either on or off the leading rein. 
Know the pony must stand still while being mounted. 
Know not to get too close to other ponies. 
Know it is safer to ride on the road with adults. 
Know on which side of the road you should ride. 

HORSEMASTERSHIP

Know how to approach a pony and give him a pat. 
Be able to untie a pony. 
Remove the headcollar. 
Know some colours of ponies. 
Be able to check if the girth is loose before mounting.

Food – We have catering on all of the Combined Training dates this year. ‘’Food 4 U’’
Photos – We have two professional photographers booked for all the dates of the combined training. Charlotte Bury, and Andy Graham.
Attire – Smart, preferably in show Jackets and beige or white Jodhpurs. Brown or Black Riding Boots and black or navy Hats/Silks.
Ponies/Horses – Smart, clean and plaited unless breed allows different. White numnahs, and clean, safe tack.
Restriction – No martingales or training aids of any kind.
Asti Horses/Ponies – These are on a first come first served basis. You are responsible for your horse/pony. They may not be in and you will be responsible for their care during the day with help and assistance from Asti staff if required. Horses/Ponies may and have more than one rider so please work together to care for their needs throughout the day.

Gymkhand Games. Good fun for all lotss of exciting games for both ponies and riders.

FRIDAY 2ND JUNE- SHOW PREP & TURNOUT WORKSHOP. 10am - 2pm. £25
Learn how to prepare yourselves and your pony/horse for a competiton.

Pony Club E Test Training. Recommended Minimum Age: 4+

This is an official voluntary test for young new members. It is not necessary to either take or pass this Test before attempting the D test. The Test may be taken on or off the lead rein.

Objective
To improve and enjoy learning about ponies
To be happy both on and around ponies
To know the basic points of the pony

SATURDAY 24TH JUNE - PONY CLUB ACHIEVEMENT BADGE. 10.00am - 12 midday. £20
Road Rider Mini Pony Club Achievement Badge. To be taken at E to D Test Level.

This Test must be passed before the D Test certificate can be awarded. This is the entry level for the Road Rider Tests.

Members should be able to participate in the games shown in The Pony Club Road Rider DVD and demonstrate understanding of the following sections:

1. Controlling your pony Demonstrate being able to Stop at a designated point and look behind before moving off. Some Trot can be shown.

2. What’s behind me? Using picture cards, (Good clear examples of easily recognisable people or objects) Be able to look behind at regular intervals and identify the picture card being held up.

3. Be able to tell the examiner about the importance of “Being Seen to be Safe’’ What should be worn? Clothing for themselves and their pony Correct sequence for making a Left or Right Signal. Look - Signal - Look Again (Life Saver Look) Manoeuvre. How to say ‘Thank You’

4. Be able to recognise the following Road Signs: STOP, GIVE WAY and BRIDLEWAY

5. Be able to name the important items that should be taken on a hack and suitable places to ride.

Building Show Jumps Achievemt Badge - Part 1

Guidelines
To be able to recognise various types of show jumps.
To be able to build various types of show jumps safely.
To have an understanding of how to build a simple show jumping course and understand the different lines.

Key points
Understand the safety implications in relation to building show jumping fences.
To be able to put trot and canter poles out with the correct distances, suitable for the horses/ponies taking part.
Understand the reason each type of fence is built.
Understand how wide to build spreads.
Understand how to use safety cups and when to use flat cups.
Understand when and how to use fillers.
Know about ground lines and false ground lines.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

MADE TO MEASURE DAYS - We can provide made to measure days on request during the holiday all we need is 4 or more people adult or child.

PARTIES - For those looking for a party with a difference we can offer horsey parties here at Asti - bring your own food and we'll organise tables, chairs, and horse riding games and lotys of fun activities for the party group.

OFF ROAD HACKING - We can also offer hacking over local farm land in the most picturesque countryside for small groups.

MINI CROSS COUNTRY/SHOW JUMPING/DRESSAGE RALLY - We would be happy to organise mini-cross country jumping/show jumping/dressage rally if enough people are interested. If you would like us to arrange this please speak to your instructor.

TRAINING - We can also provide training for BHS and Pony Club achievements as well as Brownie or Guide Exams as required.

HACKING - We can also offer hacking in small group rides over nearby farmland throughout the summer. Ask for details.
